You have to note the time it takes to blink, turn around, and begin casting too. It breaks every now and then, and if the enemy attacks you it can really mess your fight up. In the current state of the game, that would mean more burst and more CC lol. Frost nova does not last 6-8 seconds all the time. The answer is to go back to the roots and start making mage the glass cannon with Burst and CC at a level to compete with other classes. But I think most of us would agree the homogenization has gotten out of hand and the fact that every class has CC, Burst, Heals, and Gap Closers largely invalidate the merits of a mage. Trick is to use that predictability against them. Thing about blink is it takes you from Point A to Point B in the a straight line so most people can predict where your going. For some classes like Warlock, a Health Siphon makes sense. Blink can benefit from the spin jump as well especially in crowded areas with trees brush buildings and alleyways and even in open fields. Problem is that most classes have been homogenized with everyone having CC and Heals and Burst. I risk sticking my neck out saying this and speaking for the community, but I think that is the mage most of us want to play as well. Historically, mage has been a glass cannon with ample burst and CC to play on a knife’s edge in PvE and PvP. Mages should have their own unique merits and skills that offset healing of other classes. I don’t think mages should mimic other classes and add in an incongruent healing spell just because other classes have them. Those merits should be high dps and/or CC lacking survivability. In PvE, I would still maintain my purist view of the mage that we should not be healers, but have other merits. It should also be clarified in what context the OP, or other mages, feel that we should be given self healing.
